Seeing spots (big pocket cheetah skirt)

TGIT!! But not really cause I wish it were Friday!! Welp, there are 5 more days until Christmas and I'm NOT ready. I never am. I find myself scrambling at the last minute to get people things and just want to call it quits and get nothing. At this moment, I'm in the process of getting items for my nieces, nephews and parents- the other people are grown and shouldn't expect a gift, lol. I'll just be happy for next week because I'll be off work ALLLLLLLLLLL week. Can't wait!! Here's today's look- I featured this skirt in 2 other colors here and here. People seem to be fascinated by the pockets. I love this skirt (big pocket style) and could wear it everyday if that were acceptable!!

80's Aztec- Nuwave vibe

Today I'm feeling a little 80's nostalgic in a Nu-wave kinda way. I've been wanting to wear these some what fitted/slouchy pants again but never knew what to pair them with. I'd paired them in the past with red shoes and a black top seen here but I didn't want to go that route again. I wanted a bold look this time so from there I started scowering my closet looking for the right thing. I find I really don't have to fuss when it comes to going thru my closet because I know where everything is and in my mind I'm picking a choosing just what I want. The 1st thing that came to mind was this ruffled shirt and from there the vest was born. I knew I wanted it to be a bold color and was glad I had this mustard/gold colored vest. The final touch was finding jewelry that would fit the style and add a blazer and I was on my way. If I weren't going to work I would've worn this hat right along with it. My sister's the one who said I looked like I dropped out of the 80's- ala Devo or Flock of Seagulls, hahah. What are your thoughts on today's look??

Pocahontas in her cutouts..

Today I feel like Pocahontas in this outfit with my hair pulled back, with this tan outfit and feather necklace. I paired this look with these tan/brown opaque stockings and open toe cutout sandals I bought this summer. These shoes get so many compliments and my guess is because they're so unique and different. I stumbled upon them by mistake while looking for shoes for an event during the summer. They were the only pair in the store and just my luck, they were my size :). The sales girl said if I didn't want them, she'd take them, so I knew I HAD to have them. I didn't want to go so matchy matchy but ended up pairing the dress and shoes with this darker colored ruffled vest. All in all, the look came out great.. You may remember this dress from when I showed it here and the vest worn here. What do you guys think??

OOTD: Stripe button back shirt with contrast sleeve

I'm so not happy the weekend is over :(. Wish I had at least another day to be off but then I'll say the same thing tomorrow if today was my day off. I'll never win. This weekend I had a couple of events scheduled but only ended up attending one as you read in the other post here. I made the shirt last night wondering whether it would like right with the dark sleeves. This shirt closes in the back (buttons) and I had this material for about 6mths now as I was intending on using it to make a long shirt for my sister who's a Muslim. What are your thoughts on today's looks? For all those who've seen this style of shirt before, it's the same as the shirts found here and here.

Shoes.. Cougar Town.. and Karaoke

This weekend I had so much planned and I was running all over the place. I started my 3 day weekend off by going to NYC on Friday. I went there with a plan and that was to specifically go to Mood to purchase this leopard fabric I'd seen on their web site. From there it was off to find the right pair of shoes to go with the look I was going for but couldn't seem to find any. Finally when I get back to South Jersey, I'm in the mall and spot these super duper cute red shoes but they don't have my size. I'm heated and hate my foot size at that moment but then the sales girl says King of Prussia Mall (KOP) has them and another store. Well when she checks KOP, they don't show my size so she says the next closest store is in NYC (as I hollar and scream in my head, "I just came from there and saw nothing"). The bad part is they didn't have it in the red I was looking for and only had black. Well me being me, I was determined to get those shoes so I called up there and told them to hold the pair for me and I'd be up there in the morning to get them. I paced all night long asking the question do I want them bad enough. Well guess I didn't because I over slept and didn't even hear the damn alarm. I woke up 2 hrs after my alarm was supposed to have gone off and from there my day was set- this told me I wouldn't have a good day.

In my head I did the math as to the time it would take me to get back up there and back for the 1st event I had planned- a fashion event I thought was in Philadelphia but actually wasn't. So Saturday morning started off with me waking up late. Next I had to finish my sister's dress for her party later in the day then finish mine. Once completed I was in the car ready to head to the fashion event. When I map quested it I saw the event was in Asbury Park, NJ and not Philly. Man I was heated!! I sat in the car for about 15 mins looking at the directions and screaming "I'LL NEVER MAKE IT IN TIME!!!" I was so upset at the fact that I couldn't attend that event and swore that for now on, all events I'm invited to I'll map quest them 1st so I don't have this issue again. Mad at myself, the only thing I could do was finish my Christmas shopping :(

Night fall came and I was ready to head to Philly for a little karaoke and food for my older sister's pre-bday celebration. We had so much fun and people who said they weren't going to sing actually enjoyed themselves and had the mic all night.. It was hilarious. Now a few key points about my sister: She's a mother in her 30's, has an old soul and wouldn't be caught dead in something skin tight. Well I got her in to a fitted dress and some shoes!! She looked amazing and had everyone turning their head out of shock because they had never seen her in something so fitted. She's usually an around the way girl- casual, loose clothing and sneakers/flats. I enjoyed my night and I'm glad she enjoyed it as well. Hope you guys like the pics :)

This dress was the inspiration for my outfit and the thing that started me on this crazy journey.

The material I found to make the dress

Here are the shoes I wanted to get but had to settle with an old pair I had (bottom right) :(

My sister at her finest!! This is a gold/champagne colored dress with ruching on the sides (that aren't visible). I should've told her to put her hands on her waist so you can see it a little better.

The craziness of the night!!

This is how the outfit turned out

A mod kind of day- Stocking and sandals a faux pas?

So yesterday I posed the question whether or not you'd wear open toe sandals with stockings in the winter. Many said yes and that they had done this. I've always seen it done but never was that much of a risk taker to actually do it (as if I'd be scared when I take MANY risks, haha). But I must say, I liked how it looked in the shoes I modeled at the store and like it now. Hopefully people don't think I look like a granny in these sandals, lol. You know how your grandmother wears her taupe stockings with her beige sandals all year round- bad feet, bones sticking out every which way, nail polish broken up- YES, you can see this thru their sheer stockings :). But I decided to pair these sandals with this striped dress I bought from H&M. It's a perfect match if I do say so myself. I didn't want to go over board with the look so I kept it minimal with the accessories and hair. I'm always skeptical at what people will think of what I have on. I have to get at least 3 likes before I feel I've accomplished what I was going for- and I've gotten this- YIPPEE!!! The trend caught on when fashion designers displayed this look on the runway but in their version, they used socks instead of stockings. Well I'm NOT wearing just socks in this weather, so opted to NOT take that plunge and be so daring. Here I've shown other ways of wearing the look (sandals with socks/stockings). Remember, it's only a fashion faux pas if worn incorrectly and you're not confident in the look. Start the trend amongst your group because you may inspire others to rock the look- I know I have.

Socks With Sandals
On the runway, I think it’s sort-of cute, the whole school-girl inspired socks trend. And on Barbie, it looks just adorable. But in real life, very few can pull off this trend. And often when they try, it’s disastrous.

Is it chic or just plain ole granny looking and you'd never wear it?
